第8章 白雪皇后的七个故事（第5页）
小男孩吓坏了，从椅子上跳了起来；
thelittleboywasfrightenedandsprangfromthechair;
就在同一时刻，好像有一只大鸟从窗户飞过。
atthesamemomentitseemedasifalargebirdflewbythewindow.
第二天出现了一场大霜冻，很快春天就来了。
onthefollowingdaytherewasaclearfrost，andverysooncamethespring.
阳光照耀；
thesunshone;
嫩绿的新叶萌发；
theyounggreenleavesburstforth;
燕子筑巢；
theswallowsbuilttheirnests;
窗户打开了，孩子们又一次坐在屋顶的花园里，比其他所有房间都高。
windowswereopened，andthechildrensatoncemoreinthegardenontheroof，highabovealltheotherrooms.
这个夏天玫瑰开得多美啊。

小女孩学了一首赞美诗，诗里提到了玫瑰，然后她就想起了他们自己的玫瑰，她把这首赞美诗唱给小男孩听，小男孩也跟着唱：

“玫瑰盛开又凋谢，
但我们将见到圣婴。”

然后这两个小家伙手牵手，亲吻玫瑰，看着明亮的阳光，对着阳光说话，仿佛圣婴就在那里。

那是美好的夏日时光。

在玫瑰丛中是多么美丽和清新啊，玫瑰似乎永远不会停止盛开。

一天，凯和格尔达坐着看一本满是动物和鸟类图片的书，就在教堂钟楼的钟敲响十二点的时候，凯说：“哦，有东西击中了我的心！”不久之后又说：“我的眼睛里有东西。”

小女孩用胳膊搂住他的脖子，往他眼睛里看，但她什么也看不见。

“我想它已经走了。”他说。
“Ithinkitisgone，”hesaid.
但它并没有消失；
butitwasnotgone;
这是那面镜子的碎片之一——就是我们提到过的那面魔镜——那面丑陋的镜子，它能让一切伟大和美好的事物显得渺小和丑陋，而所有邪恶和恶劣的东西变得更加明显，每一个小缺点都能清晰地被看到。

可怜的小凯心里也进了一粒小碎片，它很快就变成了一块冰。
